Linda Millenbach, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School, brought an array of musical instruments to teach the children a little bit about a variety of wind and percussion instruments. The array of instruments immediately had everyone’s attention, particularly those from other countries that had been used hundreds of years ago. The hands-on demonstration started with Linda using a flute and teaching a participant how to blow into a bottle to learn the proper technique. Several of the children were given the opportunity to experience the sound, look and feel of all the instruments by pushing keys, sliding the trombone, and playing on the drums. The program concluded with each child making their own musical instrument – their own little maracas!
