This year’s end of summer reading program was a celebration mixed with music, magic and books performed by Joe Holiday’s Reading Rocks Magic Show. Mr. Holiday started the program by drawing a picture of a bowling ball and as he pulled away the sheet, a bowling ball magically appeared. This trick was performed to illustrate the use of your imagination which is the premise of the book “Harold and the Purple Crayon.” The magic continued and the children were eager to participate in his various skits as he continued to combine the use of magic and books. The introduction of a phone book, never seen by most of the little ones, where he proceeded to guess a phone number that was selected by an attendee and had been sealed in envelopes. Harry Potter and his magical wand and a version of Romeo and Juliet were also greatly received by the children and adults, as well!!
The program was immediately followed by a pizza party, donated by Angelo’s Pizza. We concluded the party by selecting our Grand Prize winner based on our Summer Reading Program’s criteria. This year’s winner was Victoria Bhasin. Congratulations!!!
